Nominated for the Hec Crighton award as Canada's most outstanding university football player in 1974, Tripp piled up 2,588 yards rushing in four seasons with the Marauders. The three-time Mac league all star did it on teams with a 7-22 record. He was MAC's outstanding athlete in 1975. He returned to Mac and became chairman of Men's Athletics at age 26.
