McMaster University Athletics

Known to students as "Easy Al", Smith was associated with McMaster athletics for 32 years as teacher, coach and administrator before retiring in 1983. A former Big Four football player, Smith was recruited by Ivor Wynne to coach the grid Marauders and later became the first Director of the School of Physical Education and Athletics. He even played one game with the Marauders when they were in the senior ORFU for a season.
