Please note that credentials for football, basketball and volleyball are only issued to working media personnel from a legitimate media organization. Credentials must be clearly displayed at all times while on site and are non-transferable.

Media wishing to attend a McMaster Marauders home game should email Jay Barlett, Communications & Media Specialist (barlej1@mcmaster.ca) to make a request. Requests should me made at least 48 hours prior to an event. Requests made inside 48 hours may not be considered. 

2025-26 Media Access

Credentials
All credentials issued are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Credentials must be worn in plain sight at all times. Access is restricted to the 'Zones' listed on the front of credentials. McMaster University, the Department of Athletics & Recreation and its representatives reserve the right to revoke credentials and eject the holder for any violation of provincial, university or stadium policies or regulations. All accredited individuals must comply with applicable regulations regarding conduct at McMaster University athletic events, including strict adherence to all health & safety protocols. Unauthorized use of credentials will be grounds for confiscation. The holder assumes and understands all risks associated with attending events. Acceptance of credentials constitutes agreement by the holder to abide by the conditions as described above. All credentials remain the property of McMaster University and must be surrendered upon request.

Photography
Only credentialed photographers and videographers are permitted to shoot events at Ron Joyce Stadium and Burridge Gymnasium. All photographers/videographers must wear a high-visibility vest while on the sidelines at Ron Joyce Stadium - If needed, one will be provided, and should be returned to the Will Call desk following the event.

The Sports Information office will have a photographer present at most Marauder home games, and photo requests may be made in advance by emailing Jay Barlett (barlej1@mcmaster.ca) or the Sports Information office (sio@mcmaster.ca). Photos for print media covering events will be made available approximately 60 minutes following games (upon request).

Media members and photographers are not allowed in the team bench areas or locker rooms. Access to these areas is strictly limited to team personnel/team media only.

Photography is permitted at non-ticketed events hosted at Alumni Field and 10 Acre Field, and accreditation is not required for these events. Photographers must remain well behind the field of play and may be asked to move by event staff and/or officials. Non-ticketed events include: rugby, field hockey, lacrosse, track & field, & cross country. 

Media
Requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to the event. Seating in the media areas is limited, and not guaranteed. If requesting a seat in the media areas, please indicate in your initial email. As a general rule, preference for media seating will be given to journalists who cover the Marauders on a regular basis. If necessary, media space may be assigned according to the following criteria:

  • Local and provincial newspapers by circulation, wire services, national publications
  • Other daily newspapers with preference to those that regularly cover McMaster
  • Radio and television personnel not broadcasting but considered reporting (seats may be provided in the stands but other media access granted)
  • Non-daily newspapers, with preference to those that regularly cover McMaster

Online outlets will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Interviews
Post-game press conferences: The head coach and selected players may be made available for a formal post-game media availability, beginning approximately 10 minutes following all home football games, and select home basketball/volleyball games. Contact Sports Information office for more information.

Post-game media scrums/interviews: Requests by working media must be made to a representative of the Communications/Sports Information office at least 30 minutes prior to the end of an event. All pre-game interview requests must be made at least 4 hours prior to the event start. Media members should not approach student-athletes or coaches for interviews without the expressed consent of the Sports Information Officer or the Communications & Media Specialist.

Non-game day interviews with McMaster Marauder coaches, student-athletes and staff may be arranged by contacting arcomms@mcmaster.ca or sio@mcmaster.ca. Members of the media should not contact McMaster student-athletes or coaches directly. Student-athletes and coaches have been instructed to refer interview requests to Communications/Sports Information offices.

Only broadcast rights holders may conduct on-camera pre-game or post-game interviews on the field (with expressed written consent from the Sports Information Officer or Communications & Media Specialist).
