While a member of the varsity rugby team, Alan was recognized as an OUA All-star during all four of his years as a Marauder. As team captain Alan led his team to the gold medal victory at the '92 OUA Championships. His role as a leader extended beyond the pitch as he also served as an assistant coach from '92-'99. Alan also demonstrated "the Spirit of McMaster" through his leadership on numerous initiatives in conjunction with the Athletic Council and the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
