GWEN (LEWIS) SMITH

Smith was appointed McMaster's first Physical Education Director for women in 1946. Gwen coached basketball, swimming, badminton, tennis, and golf, as well as being faculty advisor to the Women's Athletic Executive. She is credited with introducing gymnastics to the McMaster programme in 1947.
