McMASTER ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
The 2000–01 season marked a historic breakthrough for McMaster women’s tennis. After a 17-year championship drought, the team captured the OUA title in the fall of 2000, followed by a national victory at the 2001 Canadian University Tennis Championship - the only national title in program history. Coached by Doug Ho, the team featured standout contributions from Heather Talach (MacGillivary), Michelle Greenwood, Susan Huang, Amanda Sutherland, Wanda Pedzinski, Leah Tataj, Erin Berry, and Holly Beckley.
Their success extended beyond team achievements. Huang earned an individual OUA silver medal and represented Canada at the Pan American Games. Greenwood and Talach were two-time OUA doubles champions and medalists. Together with Coach Ho, they were selected to represent Canada at the 2001 FISU World University Games in Beijing. The team’s depth, drive, and individual excellence remain unmatched, and their legacy continues to stand as one of the most remarkable chapters in McMaster tennis history.
