Winnipeg, Man. — The Marauders raced at the U SPORTS Championships this weekend hosted by the University of Manitoba. A strong team of distance track athletes competed in the men's 3000m, women's 4x800m relay and the 1500m.
Samuel Patrick led the Marauders with a silver medal in the men's 3000m (8:17.60). Teammates William Weist placed 5th (8:23.31),
Iain Thomson finished 8th (8:27.87), and
Ryan Davies added a 10th-place result (8:32.12) — giving McMaster four runners in the top 10 in the event. Patrick also competed in the men's 1500m, finishing 7th in 3:51.99.

Paula Schnurr praised the men's performance in the 3000m:
"Sam ran a very smart race that was very tactical from the start. He is one of the best championship racers I have coached and his silver medal was well deserved. I was very impressed with how the 4 men raced and the number of team points they scored."
On the women's side, Olivia MacAskill placed 10th in the 1500m (4:32.62). MacAskill also anchored the women's 4x800m relay alongside Ella Madsen, Kara Tichbourne, and Florina Keller, with the team finishing 11th in 9:08.41.
In the final team standings, the Western Mustangs claimed the men's title with 64 points, followed by the Alberta Golden Bears (60.5) and Guelph Gryphons (56). On the women's side, the Guelph Gryphons captured the championship with 105 points, ahead of the Saskatchewan Huskies (79) and Windsor Lancers (70).
