Windsor, Ont. – The McMaster Marauders delivered standout performances at the 2025 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Windsor Lancers from March 6 to 8 at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse. The Marauders showcased their endurance and determination against the nation's best, securing a top-10 finish in the men's team standings and strong individual results in both divisions.

Leading the way for McMaster was Alec Purnell (Dundas, Ont.), who dominated the competition and captured a gold medal in the men's 3000-metre race with a time of 8:12.40. Purnell's endurance was further on display in the men's 1500-metre run, where he claimed bronze in 3:50.87, cementing his place among the country's elite distance runners.

In the men's 4x800-metre relay, the quartet of Matthew Markson, Tristan Bouius, William Weist and Samuel Patrick clocked in at 7:37.60, earning a fourth-place finish in a highly competitive race.

On the women's side, Victoria Lamb made her mark in the 1500-metre run, placing ninth overall with a time of 4:29.27, contributing to McMaster's strong presence on the national stage. Meanwhile, in the women's 3000-metre run, Ana Morariu and Kaitlyn Treleaven showcased their endurance, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, in times of 9:47.05 and 9:47.24.

As a team, the McMaster men placed eighth overall with 21 points, while the women finished in a three-way tie for 20th place with five points.

With a strong showing at the national championships, the Marauders continue to build on their legacy in distance running.
