BOSTON, MA. — This weekend, the Marauder track team ventured down south to compete at the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University. The team clocked 21 personal bests.
The women ran on Friday in three different events. In the women's 1000m, Florina Keller (Hamilton, Ont.) finished fourth in her heat and was the top Marauder finisher with a time of 2:54.13. Kara Tichbourne (Meaford, Ont.) finished close behind in 2:54.94, and Mary Tennant (London, Ont.) crossed the line in 3:01.59. Kaylee White (Bright's Grove, Ont.) ran the mile race in a time of 4:55.52 and clocked a 1500m time of 4:36.69. The final event the Marauders ran was the 3000m which had Kaitlyn Treleaven (Hamilton, Ont.) finish in 9:40.33, as the top Marauder finisher. Ana Morariu (Kincardine, Ont.) and Victoria Lamb (London, Ont.) also ran in the same heat as Treleaven and finished close together with a time of 9:45.33 and 9:46.20 respectively.
Tristan Bouius (Hanover, Ont.) and Noah Mulkewich (Hamilton, Ont.) stuck close together in the men's 1000m finishing in 2:26.05 and 2:26.45 and grabbing the 9th and 10th spots overall. A few seconds behind was Porter Lakhanpal (Dundas, Ont.) finishing in 2:28.68.
Alexander Purnell (Dundas, Ont.), ran the mile and finished 30th overall and third in his heat, crossing the finishing line in just over four minutes at 4:00.09. His 1500m time was also recorded in this race where he finished in 3:44.00 which gave him the school record in both the mile and 1500m. That's two school records in a single race. Purnell is now not only ranked first in the country in the 3000m but now holds the second spot in the 1500m national rankings.
Finally, the Marauders had William Weist (Toronto, Ont.) finish first in his heat for the 3000m with a time of 8:09.95, and secured a top 12 spot in the country.
