McMaster Distance Track Competes at Don Wright Meet

LONDON, Ont. - The Marauders hit the track again this past Saturday (Jan. 20th) at the Don Wright Meet hosted by the Western Mustangs.

On the women's side, four Marauders ran in the 1000m race, while nine competed in the 1-mile race. McMaster, specializing in distance track, focused on these two longer races for the weekend. Victoria Lamb, a third year from London, Ont., had a great race in the 1-mile, beating all the competition to finish first with a time of 4:52.51. Fourth year Rosalyn Barrett was close behind teammate Lamb, finishing third overall with a time of 4:56.25. Hannah Goodjohn, a reliable long-distance runner for McMaster, finished seventh in the race, just over the five-minute mark (5:00.79). In the 1000m race, Olivia Macaskill had McMaster's top performance, finishing third in the race behind two Mustangs, with a time of 2:58.47. The other three Marauders in the race finished 11th, 12th, and 14th.

On the men's side, four Marauders ran in the 1000m race, with first year Porter Lakhanpal taking home the victory with a time of 2:32.64. Following him, Tristan Bouius, Ryan Ferri, and Alex Megas placed closely together in fourth (2:33.95), fifth (2:35.32), and sixth (2:36.53), respectively. Four McMaster athletes ran in the 1-mile race, with William Weist placing in second (4:13.73). Following him were first year Samuel Patrick and fourth year Noah Mulkewich, in fifth and sixth place, respectively. The longest event - the men's 3000m - featured nine Marauders, led by Jason Lowrie who crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 8:37.48. Ryan Davies, Chris Hoftyzer, Lukas Vadeika and Giancarlo Farruggia had a 5-6-7-8 finish. Kamran Brar, Austin McGoey, Jack Ormsby and Joseph McIntyre crossed the finish line in back-to-back fashion in 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th places.
