The Marauders kicked off their indoor track season on Friday evening as 26 McMaster athletes headed to Windsor for the annual Can Am Classic.
On the women's side, four Marauders ran in the women's 3000m. Fifth year Hannah Goodjohn was the first Marauder to cross the finish line, earning sixth place with a time of 10:06.57. Following the senior were teammates Emma Elliott and Ella Madsen who crossed the finish line three seconds apart, earning eighth (10:19.71) and eleventh (10:22.55) respectively. Second year Nora Treleaven, competing in her first year of eligibility, finished sixteenth with a time of 10:45.06. The McMaster women entered two 4x800m relay teams, placing fourth and ninth. The fourth-place relay team (Rosalyn Barrett, Victoria Lamb, Kayla Overholt, Olivia Macaskill) earned a time of 9:21.25, six seconds short of the podium.
The Marauder men had six runners entered in the men's 3000m and were led by first year Samuel Patrick who placed seventh with a time of 8:44.12. The next five McMaster runners placed within 11 seconds of each other, showing their depth. Ben Keller earned eighth place (8:50.00), while Austin McGoey placed tenth (8:53.52). Following them was Lukas Vadeika in twelfth, Jack Ormsby in fifteenth, and Joseph McIntyre in sixteenth place. The Marauders entered two relay teams into the 4x800m, placing slightly better than the women with fourth and eighth place finishes. The fourth-place relay team (Connor Black, William Weist, Porter Lakhanpal, Noah Mulkewich) were seven seconds behind the third-place relay team with their 7:54.07 finish.
