TORONTO, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders had one final tune-up on the track before the upcoming 2023 OUA Track and Field Championships. The Hamilton squad traveled to Toronto on Friday night to take part in the Hal Brown Last Chance Meet, hosted by the Toronto Varsity Blues.
With a number of Marauders already poised for the provincial championship, a select group of maroon and grey runners competed in Toronto.
FULL RESULTS
On the women's side,
Hope Harnack led the charge in the women's 1500m. With a personal best time of 4:38.35, the Cambridge local was the sixth to cross the finish line but, of those individuals, only one varsity runner bettered her time.
Morgan McKeown (4:42.15) and
Kileigh Harrington (PB - 4:44.42) were just behind Harnack in 8th and 9th spot, respectively.
Maya Parkin,
Mikayla Battams and
Sarah Cushnie were the other Marauders in the race, finishing 12th, 15th and 17th.
Olivia MacAskill was the lone Marauder in the women's 1000m, crossing the line in 2:55.56, good for second position, just .26 seconds back of the overall leader.
In the women's 3000m,
Kaitlyn Treleaven represented the maroon and grey, finishing 3rd in a time of 9:49.96 with just one varsity runner crossing the line ahead of her.
For the men,
Lukas Vadeika and
Jack Ormsby raced the 1500m for the Marauders. Vadeika recorded a time of 4:08.20 (9th) while Ormsby finished in 4:22.23 (18th).
William Weist (2:31.55),
David Marchant (2:31.53),
Connor Black (2:34.18),
Ryan Ferri (2:34.73) and
Ryan Were (2:36.86) all competed in the men's 1000m. Weist, Marchant and Ferri all recorded personal best times.
The Marauders closed out the night in the men's 4x800m relay.
Alex Drover,
Noah Mulkewich,
Henry Gage and
Gustav Finley ran to a season's best time of 7:38.58, ranking them second in the OUA and 10th in the nation.

The Marauders will now take on the OUA Championships this coming weekend from February 24-25, hosted by the Windsor Lancers.
