FULL RESULTS
After capturing another provincial medal at the OUA Championship two weeks ago, the Marauder women carried that momentum into this weekend's U SPORTS Championship, securing fifth place in a field of 19 teams.
Rosalyn Barrett was in the front of the pack from the start and crossed the finish line in 13
th place. Barrett ran the 8km race in a time of 29:37.1, bettering her performance from last year by almost 45 seconds. The Ottawa local and 2023 OUA silver medalist earned her first U SPORTS All-Canadian finish of her career.
Hannah Goodjohn was the next Marauder to cross the finish line at the national event in 22
nd place followed by
Kaitlyn Treleaven and
Emma Elliott in 41
st and 52
nd, respectively. Rounding out the Marauders who contributed points was
Kayla Overholt in 56
th spot.
Victoria Lamb and
Mikayla Battams were the final two runners for the Marauders.
For the men's squad, competing on the national stage was an entirely new experience with none of the McMaster runners having previous U SPORTS experience. Despite the novelty of the event, the Marauders ran well to finish in the Top 10 in the team standings, earning the No. 9 spot in a field of 20 teams.
Connor Lashley led the way for the maroon and grey, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:42.5 to capture a 33
rd-place finish.
Kamran Brar rounded out the Top 50 finishes for the Marauders. It was
Lukas Vadeika,
Giancarlo Farruggia and William Weist who completed the Top 5 Marauder runners as the fourth fastest OUA finisher.
Jason Lowrie and
Ryan Davies rounded out the McMaster competitors on the course.
The UBC Thunderbirds men's and women's teams swept the national team titles at the 2023 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships. Katie Newlove from UBC was the women's individual gold medalist while Philippe Morneau-Cartier from Laval won the men's individual competition.
