HAMILTON - The McMaster Marauders hosted the annual Marauder Bayfront Open on Friday and with runners from the top cross country programs across the province in attendance, everyone was looking to put their best foot forward at the final race before the 2023 OUA Cross Country Championships.

The Marauder women, who sit at #6 in the national rankings, finished the race in third place with a total of 70 points. Third-year runner Rosalyn Barrett led the way for the Marauders, crossing the finish line in 8th place with a time of 29:17.2. The other four scoring runners for McMaster stuck together in the race and claimed consecutive finishes just outside the top ten. Kayla Overholt completed the course in 13th spot while Victoria Lamb, Hannah Goodjohn, Ella Madsen and Kaitlyn Treleaven finished in 14
th, 15th and 16
th, respectively.
On the men's side,
Connor Lashley, a fourth-year environmental sciences major, earned a tenth place finish of 24:48.2 as he led No. 9 McMaster to a fifth place finish in the eleven-team men's field. Not far behind was rookie
Kamran Brar, who crossed the finish line in 25:07.5 to claim 18th spot.
Ryan Davies was the next Marauder to complete the course (29th) followed by
Lukas Vadeika,
Giancarlo Farruggia and William Weist with a 33-34-35 finish to round out the scoring group for McMaster.

The Marauders will now prepare for the OUA Championships which will take place in two weeks in Waterloo on Saturday October 28th.
