It was a day filled with podium finishes and all-star efforts for the McMaster Marauders cross country teams on Saturday afternoon in London, Ont. as they competed at the 2021 OUA Championships.

Andrew Davies became the third Marauder in OUA history to capture the individual men's title, crossing the line in 24:41 to place first overall in the men's 8km distance. His time matched the course record set by Corey Bellemore of Windsor in 2016.
Capturing a pair of bronze medals were
Erin Mawhinney in the women's 8km race, and Max Turek in the men's 8km distance.
Mawhinney, who's led the Marauders all season long, continued her fine form in the provincial championships. After making a break with the lead at the 5km mark, she held on to finish third overall in a time of 29:49. Meanwhile, Turek, who was the 2018 individual champion, added yet another medal to his resume, finishing 16-seconds back of Davies to claim third-place.
For their efforts, all three athletes were also named OUA first-team all-stars, along with Alex Drover who finished fifth in the men's distance in a time 25:07.
Caroline Forbes placed 11
th for the Marauders in the women's 8km race in a time of 30:30, earning her an OUA second-team all-star honour, along with men's runners Ryan Tyrell (12
th-place) and
Sam Nusselder (13
th-place) who crossed the finish line in a time of 25:25 and 25:28, respectively.
Narrowly missing out on an OUA all-star honour, placing 15
th in the women's race, was second-year runner
Hannah Goodjohn, finishing in a time of 30:44.
With five runners in the top 14, the Marauders men's team made a strong push for the OUA banner, looking to repeat upon their success of 2018. However, the Guelph Gryphons clinched the men's title narrowly by a two-point margin, outscoring the Marauders 32-34.
Meanwhile, the Marauders women's team put up 73-points to finish third overall behind the champion Guelph Gryphons (19-points), and second-place Western Mustangs (60-points).
The Marauders now look ahead to the U SPORTS Championships set to take place in two weeks' time in Quebec, hosted by the Laval Rouge Et Or. The National Championship race is scheduled for Sat. Nov. 20
