Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster women's lacrosse team hosted teams throughout the OUA this weekend. Today, the Marauders faced the Guelph Gryphons in the morning and the Western Mustangs in the afternoon, losing both games in the double header.
McMaster's Jackie Heaton (Peterborough, Ont.) was the first to get on the board before Guelph scored five unanswered goals. Before the half ended the Marauders would score one more from Stephanie Ball (Brampton, Ont.) for a score of 5-2 in favour of the Gryphons going in to the second half.
In the second half, Guelph went on a scoring rampage getting the score up to 9-2 before McMaster's Ruby Gatt (Avondale, PA) got on the board. Guelph would score three more for a total of twelve and goals from Sarah Kumka (Burlington, Ont.), Julie Marquardt (Whitby, Ont.) and another from Heaton wouldn't be enough for the Marauders to overtake the Gryphons. The final score would be 12-6.
In McMaster's second game of the game on Alumni Field, the Western Mustangs came out scoring four goals before Marauder Heaton scored the first goal for McMaster. The only other Marauder to score in the game was Stephanie Savoie (Oakville, Ont.). Western would take control of the game in the second half, shutting out the Marauders with a final score of 14-2.
The Marauders host Laurier at 9am Sunday morning and play the Western Mustangs at 4pm the same day in the final games of the OUA women's lacrosse regular season.
