OUA Women's Lacrosse Championship Recap: Marauders Place 8th

This past weekend the McMaster Marauders women's lacrosse team competed at the 2023 OUA Championship, finishing in 8th place to conclude their season of action.

The Marauders kicked off their Championship weekend run with a face-off against rivals Guelph Gryphons. The last time the Marauders battled the Gryphons was in the season opener, where the team in Maroon fell 7-12. Despite being unable to secure the win on Saturday, the Marauders held a defensive fight while keeping up offensively. The final score was 8-9 for Guelph.

Looking over the unfortunate result, there was much to be proud of after the first game of the day. The second square-off against the Western Mustangs was written to be a tougher matchup. The Mustangs, who went on to become the OUA Champions, had a 9-1 record and were favourites to win. The Mustangs took the game 18-3, against the Marauders. A notable improvement for McMaster, who saw a 2-23 loss against Western earlier in the regular season.

While the ladies will pack away their equipment, we look forward to watching the young team return to action next OUA season.
