HAMILTON - Lexi Sheppard of the McMaster women's lacrosse team and Brayden Kelly of the Marauders football team are the Marauder Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 10th.

Sheppard, a second-year mechanical engineering student from Oakville, Ontario, scored four goals on Sunday in the Marauders' first two games of the 2023 season. The 5'9" midfielder recorded two goals in the season opener versus the Guelph Gryphons and added two more in the day's second contest against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Lexi is playing in her second season for the maroon and grey and exploded onto the scene this weekend after never having scored last year. She was the Marauders' best player to start the 2023 season. 

Kelly, a Hamilton local majoring in communication studies, found the end zone three times in Saturday's dominant 71-0 victory over the York Lions. The 6'0" second-year running back recorded eight carries for 48 yards, averaging 6.0 yards per carry, including a long of 14 yards. Brayden also played a key role on special teams, returning a kickoff for 60 yards. In two games played this season, he has rushed nine times for an average of 4.9 yards per attempt and 44 yards per game. Kelly also has one reception in 2023 for five yards.
