HAMILTON, Ont. - It's time for the final OUA Championship of the calendar year - the 2022 OUA Water Polo Championship. McMaster will host the top six teams from across the province, in search of the conference title and banner. The Marauders will look to showcase their skill in home water and earn a win against the Queen's Gaels on Friday. The Gaels stole the bronze medal from the Marauders in 2019 so the hosts will look for some redemption to earn them a spot in the semi-final. The maroon and grey will lean on the leadership of the longest standing member of the team, Colin Colterjohn who will play in front of his hometown crowd this weekend.
   
Six teams will compete for the OUA Championship title  - the Carleton Ravens, McMaster Marauders, Ottawa Gee-Gees, Queen's Gaels, Toronto Varsity Blues and Western Mustangs. In 2021, the Toronto Varsity Blues won their fifth-straight OUA Championship. The 5x defending champions will look to become the most successful team in Varsity Blues' water polo history this weekend if they can secure the elusive sixth title.

McMaster has faced some of these teams over the past few months and will look to add to the win column this weekend.

Championship action gets underway tonight at 6:30pm with the Marauders facing the Gaels in a rematch of the 2019 OUA bronze medal game. The OUA Championship title will be awarded Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm.

2022 OUA Water Polo Championship Details

• A team will start the game with seven players, including one goalkeeper.
• Teams are permitted to rotate athletes during the OUA Championships from their approved 20 person roster.
• Games consist of four (4) periods of eight (8) minutes stop time with a two (2) minute break between.
• Each team will play a minimum of two games with the potential for three if the medal round is reached.
