WATERLOO, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders cross country teams competed at the second event of the 2022 OUA cross country season, the Don Mills Open, on Saturday October 1st.
FULL RESULTS
After finishing first last weekend in London, the McMaster men's cross country team continued its success, again topping the field, this time in Waterloo. The Marauders had a strong race, with three finishers in the top five.
Fifth-year,
Andrew Davies (Sarnia, Ont.), crossed the finish line 1
st, completing the 6 kilometre course in just 18:18.2. The integrated business and humanities student averaged 3:03 per kilometre, by far the fastest pace of the day. Davies ended the race 55 seconds ahead of the next closest university competitor and teammate,
David Marchant (Toronto, Ont.). Marchant finished 2
nd in the field of 73 racers with a time of 19:13.1.
Chris Hoftyzer (Brighton, Ont.) was the third Marauder to cross the finish line with a time of 19:33.8, good for fifth overall.
Connor Lashley (Mississauga, Ont.) and
Gustav Finley (Peterborough, Ont.) completed the course in 19:56.0 (16th) and 19:58.6 (17th) respectively, to round out the top five finishers for the Marauders.
The McMaster women's team finished 4
th in Waterloo, led by rookie Emma Elliott (Guelph, Ont.) who finished 5
th in the individual competition of 67 runners on the six kilometre women's circuit with a time of 23:05.0.
Fourth-year,
Sarah Clements (Toronto, Ont.) was the second Marauder to finish on the women's side, 11
th overall with a time of 23:30.4.
Mikayla Battams (Tottenham, Ont.) scored for McMaster with a 24
th overall time of 24:11.4 while first-year Nora Treleaven (Hamilton, Ont.) finished 26
th in 24:15.2. Sarah Cushie (Waterdown, Ont.) rounded out the competitors for McMaster, completing the course in 25:25.4.
