HAMILTON, Ont. - The OUA Championship is here for women's lacrosse. McMaster will head to Toronto to face some of the top lacrosse talent in the province. With a very young team, the Marauders will look to gain some valuable Championship experience and secure wins against the Toronto Varsity Blues and Queen's Gaels - to earn them a spot on Sunday's schedule. The maroon and grey will lean on the leadership of the longest standing member of the team,
Kierra McDougall, who will play in her final games as a Marauder this weekend.
McMaster @ OUA Championships
Hosted by University of Toronto
Varsity Stadium | Toronto, Ont.
October 21st-23rd, 2022
Nine teams will compete for the OUA Championship title - the Brock Badgers, Guelph Gryphons, McMaster Marauders, Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, Queen's Gaels, Toronto Varsity Blues, Trent Excalibur, Western Mustangs and Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. In 2021, the Trent Excalibur won its second straight Patterson Cup. The defending back-to-back champions will look to capture the three-peat this weekend and bring that rising Patterson Cup total to four in their program's brief existence thus far.
McMaster has faced each of these teams already this year and will know what they are up against at the 2022 OUA Championship. The Marauders have two wins and a tie this season and will look to add to that this weekend.
Championship action gets underway this afternoon at 1pm but the Marauders won't take to the field until 8pm tonight against the host Varsity Blues. The OUA Championship title will be awarded Sunday evening at 5pm.
