The McMaster Marauders men's volleyball team have already begun their recruitment for the class of 2021-22 and are kicking things off in a big way with the signing of right-side Brendan Mills.
Â
"We're very excited to have Brendan commit to McMaster," said men's volleyball Head Coach
Dave Preston. "Doing so now gives us a chance to work with each other – remotely of course – to make sure he's as prepared as possible for his freshman year."
Â
"He's a true future ambassador for McMaster University."
Â
A London, Ont. native, Mills is completing his grade 12 year at Oakridge High School where his squad is currently the defending OFSAA AAA volleyball champions after capturing the banner last fall. A regular at provincial camps, Mills has previously been selected to attend the OVA Tall Maples Camp, and OVA Indoor High-Performance camp in past summers and is a part of Team Ontario and the Canadian Youth National Team program.
Â
"Brendan is a world class athlete from a great family, high school and club program," Preston continued, "his athletic pedigree, and the great coaching he's received at all levels will have him ready for the challenges ahead in post-secondary volleyball, and beyond."
Â
Most recently, the Forest City Volleyball club player attended the U19 Indoor Boys Team Canada 2020 virtual training program – an invite only offered to 30 of the country's finest rising stars.
Â
"I chose McMaster for its top-notch academics, and extremely competitive volleyball program," said Mills. "I hope to achieve medals on both the provincial and national stage, while studying and playing volleyball at Mac."
Â
Mills will be studying Social Sciences come next fall.
