Box Score A day after the toughest challenge of their conference season, the Marauders put down a comfortable effort Saturday to keep their perfect OUA run alive with just two matches remaining on the schedule.
The no. 3-ranked squad in the nation moved to 15-0 on the season, firmly in possession of the top seed in the conference. Meanwhile, the Badgers dropped their tenth straight match and sit at the bottom of the OUA West with a 2-13 record.
Throughout the three-set match, McMaster maintained their offence with precision, hitting .371 while their defensive play forced errors on the Brock side, who hit just .184.
Head coach Dave Preston was able to give significant playing time to younger players Saturday, who excelled with the opportunity. Second-year outside Matt Passalent seized his opportunity against the Badgers, tallying a team high of 11 points, his best performance of the season.
Marauders rookie David Doty worked well on both the offensive and defensive sides for McMaster, leading Mac with 10 digs and 34 assists in the win.
John Elgersma (13) and Timmy Spisar (11) led the Badgers on the scoreboard. Unfortunately for the Badgers, their errors made competing with the visitors difficult.
Holding the Badgers under 20 points in each of the three sets, Mac also helped to induce 20 combined errors from their hosts.
The Marauders will finish up the season with a back-to-back home stand next weekend against Queens and RMC.
