Men's Volleyball: Marauders See 15-Match Home Winning Streak Snapped in Season Opener

Mac suffered their first loss to Ryerson since 2011 in Friday's four-set decision

McMaster fans had enjoyed 15 matches, and over a full calendar year, since their team's last loss on home court at Burridge Gym.

But that streak came to a screeching halt Friday, as Mac dropped the opening match of the OUA season 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22) to the Ryerson Rams.

It marked Mac's first loss at Burridge Gym since the national final on March 12, 2016, and the first OUA loss since February of that year. Friday's was Ryerson's first victory over McMaster since 2011.

Fifth-year outside hitter Lucas Coleman was the offensive engine at the centre of the Rams win, notching a game high of 19 points, including 16 kills.

The Marauders, for their part, were paced by a 15-kill, 18-point performance from veteran left side Brandon Koppers.

McMaster was punished for an error-strewn match, which included a -13 margin from the service line.

NEXT UP: McMaster plays host to the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, Nov. 3.
