Running: Forbes Wins Bronze at Canadian National Triathlon Championships

The strong triathlon tradition among Marauders gained another chapter on Sunday, as McMaster runner Taylor Forbes won bronze at the Canadian National Triathlon Championships in Ottawa, and was second in the U23 category.

Finishing fifth overall, in a field that included non-Canadian entrants who were ineligible for the podium, Forbes medalled on the national stage for the third consecutive season. His time of 1:46:28.7 will provide a strong launching pad for his next appearance, which comes on August 7 at the Montreal stop of the ITU Triathlon World Cup.

Darlington Shines in Final Stop of European Tour

Running alongside McMaster teammates Blair Morgan and Jeff Tweedle, Marauders senior Connor Darlington capped a tour of Belgium and the United Kingdom with a personal best of 1:49.06 in the 800m event on the track at Oxford University on Saturday, July 23. His time was good enough for second in the event.
That concludes the Summer track season for Darlington, who will soon begin the transition back to the trails in time for the opening of the Fall cross-country schedule.

New Marauders Excel on International Stage

Two of the newest members of the Marauders cross country program, Sergio Raez Villanueva and Emma Waddington both posted impressive results internationally in radically different competitions.

After qualifying for the IAAF World Junior Championships by besting Morgan at the Ontario 10,000m Championships in London in May, Raez Villanueva finished 23rd at the event hosted in Bydgoszcz, Poland on July 19.
Also joining the Marauders in the Fall, from local Westdale high school, Emma Waddington finished 30th overall in the sprint event of the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Switzerland on July 10, before running the lead leg for the Canadian team in the relay event five days later.
