U Sports Top Ten: Football Moves Up as Volleyball Enters

McMaster's representation in the U Sports national polls grew on Tuesday, as volleyball entered the picture ahead of the launch of conference regular seasons Friday.

The Marauders football team edged ahead one spot to no. 4, their highest ranking of the season, in the newest Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) poll, with McMaster and their OUA counterparts due to enter the playoffs this weekend.

Ready to build on their CIS silver-medal finish of a year ago, the McMaster men's volleyball team debuted at no. 3 in the first volleyball poll of the 2016-17 season. McMaster's women's volleyball program reaped the benefits of a strong non-conference performance, entering the first poll at no. 6.

Out of competition ahead of Sunday's OUA Championship, the Marauders men's cross country team fell one spot to no. 7, while the women held at no. 10.
