Box Score Challenged again by a game opponent and a depleted roster, the Marauders were forced to gut out a tight, three-set decision over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday night. Set scores were 25-22, 27-25 and 25-19 for the Marauders, who built upon their perfect conference record to improve to 13-0 atop the OUA.
A night after an efficient, leading performance in his team's home win over Queen's, Stephen Maar starred yet again in Guelph, hitting a blistering 62 per cent on 15 of 21 versus just two errors in the win, while adding three aces for a game high of 18 points. Setter Andrew Kocur had one of his most prolific nights at the controls of the Marauder offence, posting 44 assists over the course of the three-set match.
Typically, the Marauders hit well as a team, posting a collective 38 per cent hitting on Saturday.
McMaster returns to action over the course of Marauder Weekend next week, when they rematch the Gryphons at the Burridge Gym on Sunday, January 24.
