Box Score A veteran lineup boasting the hottest hitter in the conference, the Queen's Gaels posed a challenge to the CIS no. 1-ranked Marauders on Friday. But, true to form, McMaster proved the better team early and often en route to their ninth straight sweep.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-21 and 25-23 for the Marauders, who improved to a perfect 10-0 atop the OUA standings with the win. Meanwhile, the Gaels suffered just their second loss of the season, and remained in second spot in the conference standings.
Mac outside Stephen Maar continued his blazing start to the campaign by out-duelling his opposite number Marko Dakic, who leads the conference in hitting percentage, on Friday. Maar hit a blistering 55 per cent in the straight-set win, notching 15 kills on 22 attempts versus three errors. His teammate in the power spot, Jayson McCarthy was similarly effective in committing just one error while hitting 8 of 19 for 37 per cent.
The Marauders will finish off the first half of their OUA season on Saturday, when they wrap up their stay in Kingston with a match against the RMC Paladins.
