MARAUDERS CONTINUE SEASON WITH WINNING RECORD

Kingston, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders women's lacrosse team had a big weekend as they played three games in two days on the road. Hosted by Queen's University, the Marauders played the UOIT Ridgebacks early Saturday morning and would later play the Laurier Golden Hawks. On Sunday, McMaster got a rematch with the Golden Hawks in the morning before heading home from Kingston.

The Marauders got off to a great start over the weekend with a romping of the Ridgebacks. Winning 16-1, McMaster had nine different goal scorers. Kyla Reilly (Grimsby, Ont.) lead the scoring with three and Jackie Heaton (Peterborough, Ont.) and Ruby Gatt (Avondale, PA) got two each. Single goal scorers included Sarah Rae Kumka (Burlington, Ont.), Sarah Hobbs (Kingston, Ont.), Chantelle Carnegie (Kingston, Ont.), Lindsay Hamilton (Mississauga, Ont.), and rookies Erica Crowder (Whitby, Ont.) and Danielle Gattinger (Whitby, Ont.).

Later that day, the Marauders had a tough go against a strong Laurier Golden Hawks squad. They were defeated 10-2 with Crowder and Reilly getting goals for McMaster.

On Sunday morning, McMaster would get the chance to get some revenge on Laurier. The Marauders were able to hold the Hawks to a tie with some excellent play by the defence from Julie Marquardt (Whitby, Ont.), Jackie O'Marra (Mississauga, Ont.) and rookie Jenny Sage (Whitby, Ont.). Stephanie Ball (Brampton, Ont.) and Hamilton scored two each in the tied game and Gatt and Crowder scored one each of their own.

McMaster heads to Guelph, Ont. this weekend for a game against the Western Mustangs on Saturday morning at 8:00am, and on Sunday they take on the Brock Badgers at 9:45am.
