MARAUDERS OPEN UP SEASON WITH EXHIBITION GAME AGAINST WINDSOR

Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster men's volleyball team lost to the Windsor Lancers in a five set match on Friday night. Jeremy Groenveld had 19 points in the effort.

The first set went to the home team. The Marauders lead by four points at each technical timeout and came out on top in the first set for the 25-23 win.

In the second set, the score stayed within one point as both teams traded for the lead until Windsor pulled away for the 25-22 set win to even it up at 1-1. The Lancers would go up 2-1 after another set win, earning the match lead with a 25-17 win.

In the fourth set the Marauders would respond, commanding four points leads at both timeouts before building the lead up to six points to force the fifth set, winning the fourth one 25-19.

In the fifth set, McMaster was down 8-12 at the switch and couldn't make up the four points to win it. The Lancers would ultimately win the game thanks to 14 points from Ryan Le (Windsor, Ont.) and another 13 each from Kyle Williamson (Essex, Ont.) and Harrison Oake (Rodney, Ont.).

In the loss, setter TJ Sanders (London, Ont.) had 47 assists and second-year hitter Jori Mantha (Vanier, Ont.) had a total of 16 points for the Marauders.
