Guelph, Ont. - The McMaster women's lacrosse team opened up the OUA Championships with a game versus the Queen's Gaels on Friday at the University of Guelph.
Early in the first half both teams were tied 2-2 before the Marauders were unable to stop the Gaels on their scoring spree. The Gaels were led by Teresa Mayo who scored three goals and had another three assists. Also for the Gaels, Gwyneth Ross (Newton, MA) tallied three goals and had one assist. The final score was 14-8 in favour of the Gaels.
Marauder Jackie Heaton (Peterborough, Ont.) contributed to the McMaster effort with two goals and an assist.
McMaster player of the game was Kyra Reilly (Grimsby, Ont.), who scored a pair of goals for the Marauders. Gaels player of the game was Jacqueline Byers (Mississauga, Ont.) with two goals.
