Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster cross country teams continue to impress at 2011 meets throughout the province. The Marauders traveled to Guelph, Ont. on Saturday to take part in the New Balance Vic Matthews Open hosted by the Guelph Gryphons.
For the women, who finished second, fell less than a minute in overall team behind the strong Guelph squad. Top finished for the Marauders was Sarah Haliburton () with a time of 18:02.0 finishing fourth. Victoria Coates finished tenth with a time of 18:11.4. Rounding out the top twenty also included 12th place Jillian Wyman, 13th place Steph MacNeill (who almost dropped out due to illness), 19th place Sara Giovannetti, and 20th to Courtney Patterson.
Rookies for the Marauders also ran well which included Chelsea MacKinnon with a 27th place finish and Sarah WIlson who finished 32nd of 170 runners.
The men's team results placed the men with an impressive fourth place finish, beating out CIS 4th ranked Queen's and CIS 7th ranked Regina. Andrew Yorke was once again the top finisher for the men's team with an 11th place with a time of 25:01.4. Graham Bowes finished a respectable 32nd, Taylor Reid and Jordan Bierema finished 37th and 28th respectively and Andrew Bysice had a good run finishing at 44th of 208 runners.
The Marauders will compete at the OUA Championships at the University of Ottawa on October 29.
