Box Score Toronto, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders continued their undefeated start to the 2026 football season Saturday night, defeating the York Lions 25-3 at York Lions Stadium. With the victory, McMaster moves to 3-0 for the first time since 2014.  

 McMaster opened the scoring early, with Michael Horvat connecting on a 33-yard field goal with 11:54 remaining in the first quarter. Horvat would then add another three minutes later, this time from 31 yards out, to give McMaster an early 6-0 advantage.  

York answered with a 13-yard field goal from Nathan Walker late in the opening quarter, but the Lions would not score again for the remainder of the contest.  

McMaster continued to control the game in the second quarter. After a 13-play, 88-yard drive, Horvat connected on a 10-yard field goal to extend the Marauders' lead to 9-3. Horvat added another field goal from 39 yards with just over a minute remaining in the half before connecting from 41 yards as time expired. McMaster entered the halftime break leading 15-3.  

Horvat finished the night a perfect 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts, accounting for 15 points before adding the extra point on McMaster's fourth-quarter touchdown.  

While Horvat provided the scoring, the Marauders' defence made sure York had few opportunities to respond. McMaster limited the Lions to just 136 yards of total offence and eight first downs after York's first-quarter field goal. The Marauders recorded four sacks and forced two interceptions, with Isaiah Shields and Anthony Sestanovic each coming away with a pick.  

McMaster's defensive pressure helped keep the Lions off the scoreboard as the Marauders continued to build their lead. Halfway through the third quarter, Horvat's punt resulted in a rouge, putting the Marauders ahead 16-3.  

With the defence keeping York contained, the McMaster offence continued to move the ball effectively. Quarterback Lucas Barresi completed 36 of 49 passes for 363 yards and a touchdown, with Shane Wismer leading the receiving corps with 14 catches for 167 yards. Aidan Nemeth added 11 receptions for 119 yards.  

With just 34 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Barresi found Nemeth for a 24-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach. Horvat converted the extra point to complete the scoring at 25-3.  

McMaster finished the night with 393 yards of total offence and 21 first downs, while holding the ball for 30:47.  

The victory moves McMaster to 3-0 on the season, marking the program's first undefeated start through three games since 2014.  

The Marauders will return home on Saturday, September 19 for Homecoming at Ron Joyce Stadium, where they will welcome the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., as McMaster looks to remain undefeated and continue its historic start to the 2026 season.
