McMaster completes the second half comeback to beat York

HAMILTON, Ont. — After a full day of home games, McMaster women's rugby team (3-1) took on the York Lions (2-2) Saturday evening. McMaster won the game 22-14.

The Marauders braved the wet conditions and kept the score close in the first half. York would score first putting them up 7-0.

At half time, the Six Nations Women's Singers performed in honor of Truth and Reconciliation Day which takes place on September 30th.

The Marauders punched it in early in the second half as Isabella Serrano (North York, Ont.) secured a try, but without the conversion they were still down 7-5. York would add another try and conversion to their lead making it 14-5.

Midway through the second half, McMaster aimed to make a comeback, driving the ball down the field for a try by Verena Marsig (Stouffville, Ont.) and conversion by Chayse Palfi (Keswick, Ont.) to bring the score to 14-12 for the Birds. The Marauders completed the comeback in the 80th minute with a try from Taylor Wood (Uxbridge, Ont.) and conversion by Palfi. Palfi added a penalty goal to cap off the comeback.

Next up: Your Marauders will travel to Kingston, Ont. for their final regular season game on October 5th. McMaster will face the undefeated no.1 U SPORTS Queen's Gaels (4-0).
