Winning weekend for McMaster vs Algoma

HAMILTON, Ont. — On Saturday, the McMaster Marauders (5-1-1) kicked off their weekend double header vs Algoma University (2-3-3) and ultimately swept their opponents.

In mach one, McMaster took an early lead in the 10th minute when Domenico Folino (Oakville, Ont.) found the bottom corner to put the Marauders up 1-0.Then Amir Shirazi (Oakville, Ont.) put the Marauders on the board again in the 19th minute. The goals kept on coming for the Marauders with Mohamed Alshakman (Hamilton, Ont.) in the 32nd minute adding to their lead to put them up 3-0. Then, Shirazi got a few chances in front of the net, and on the second attempt he cranked it into the back corner for his second goal of the game.

Early in the second half, McMaster would get on the scoreboard again. Jacob Patten (Hamilton, Ont.) would beat the last defender in the corner and then slip the ball past the goalie for McMaster's fifth goal, and then score the next goal as well.  Algoma would add a goal to the scoreboard on a penalty shot in the 69th minute.

But the Marauders still had another goal left in them as Sachin Sargeant (Lynden, Ont.) beat the goalie in the 86th minute to complete a 7-1 victory over Algoma. The Marauders would record 17 shots on goal, in the dominant win over Algoma. 

On Sunday, the McMaster Marauders (6-1-1) faced Algoma University (2-4-3) again and secured 3-2 win. 

Martin Enright (Vaughan, Ont.) started in net for McMaster in match two. Algoma would strike first in the 17th minute putting the Marauders on their toes. The Marauders would have their chances though with Domenico Folino (Oakville, Ont.) almost beating the goalie in the 28th minute but a diving save by the Algoma keeper would keep the ball out. 

Algoma added another goal to put them up by two but the Marauders got a penalty shot in the 39th minute and Amir Shirazi (Oakville, Ont.) found the top corner to put McMaster back within one. McMaster completed the comeback in the second half with goals from Jacobo Cordon Cruz (Oakville, Ont.) in the 54th minute and Matthew Paiva (Georgetown, Ont.) in the 59th minute. 

Enright stayed strong in net near the end of the game to secure the Marauder's 3-2 win.
