HAMILTON, Ont. — The McMaster Marauders (3-1) defeated the Toronto Varsity Blues (1-3) in convincing fashion on Saturday at Ron Joyce Stadium.
The Toronto Varsity Blues opened the scoring with a try but would then miss their conversion. The Varsity Blues led early by a score of 5-0.
Osa Olaye (Mississauga, Ont.) quickly responded, making an impressive run battling through defenders, scoring the first try for McMaster.
Chayse Palfi (Keswick, Ont.) would nail the conversion earning the lead, 7-5 Marauders.
Olaye scored her second try of the game, as she plowed her way to the endzone. Palfi added another conversion to the Marauders lead, 14-5 Marauders.Olaye delivered the hat-trick as she added to McMaster's advantage with another solid run capped off with Palfi adding her third conversion. At half-time, the Marauders had a commanding 21-5 lead. The maroon's Olaye was brilliant in the first 40-minutes, generating 15 points for the team.
Fifth-year,
Taylor Wood (Uxbridge, Ont.) electrified the crowd with another try as she found some space to the outside and scored. McMaster would miss their conversion, 26-5 Marauders. Toronto cut into the Marauders' lead with a late try and subsequent conversion, 26-12 Marauders.
First-year Marauder,
Cecily Mallette (Owen Sound, Ont.), earns her first career try for McMaster late in the game.
Madeline Templeman (St. Catharines, Ont.) secured the conversion, 33-12. The Marauders battled hard and came away with a 33-12 victory.
