Women’s soccer Abreo and Astaiza awarded nationally

HALIFAX, N.S. – After being selected as OUA All-Stars, Jade Abreo (Mississauga, Ont.) and Nicole Astaiza (London, Ont.) added to their resumes with national honors. Abreo was named to the U SPORTS All-Canadian First Team, while Astaiza became a member of the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team, as announced at the 2024 Women's Soccer U SPORTS Awards Ceremony in Halifax, N.S.

In her third season with the Marauders, Abreo earned her second All-Canadian award after being selected to the All-Canadian Second Team last year. This season, Abreo advanced to the All-Canadian First Team following an exceptional performance. She established herself as a crucial contributor to McMaster's success and a statistical leader in U SPORTS. The midfielder led U SPORTS with 11 assists and ranked third overall with 20 points, just three points behind the national leader.

Nicole Astaiza (London, Ont.) – U SPORTS All-Rookie
Midfielder
Building on an impressive debut season with the Marauders, Astaiza was named to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team. In her first year, she started all 14 matches, recording both a goal and an assist during a doubleheader against the Guelph Gryphons. With her first national recognition, Astaiza shows great potential, and the Marauders are eager to see her continued impact in future seasons.
