HAMILTON, Ont. — Baseball,
Aidan Webb (Windsor, Ont.) and women's soccer
, Jade Abreo (Mississauga, Ont.)
have been crowned this week's Marauder Athletes of the Week for their excellent showings in their respective maroon jerseys.
Baseball - Aidan Webb (Windsor, Ont.)
McMaster pitcher
Aidan Webb delivered a dominant performance to earn Athlete of the Week honours. Webb threw a
complete-game no-hitter in a 12-0 victory over Windsor, sealing the win in a five-inning mercy rule game. He was nearly untouchable on the mound, allowing just two walks while striking out six. Facing only 17 batters, Webb needed just 68 pitches to etch his name into the record books with the impressive no-hit outing.
Women's Soccer - Jade Abreo (Mississauga, Ont.)
Jade Abreo put in a stellar showing this week, helping lead the Marauders to wins over Windsor and Algoma while making significant offensive contributions and stepping up in big moments. Against Windsor, she netted the game's lone goal in the 33rd minute, helping secure a 1-0 road shutout. Then, in the home clash with Algoma, she opened the scoring in the first half, converted a penalty late in the game,
and provided the assist on the third goal in a 3-0 victory. Over the two matches, Abreo recorded
3 goals,
1 assist, and showed excellent composure — whether placing a finish, stepping up to take the penalty, or setting up teammates.
Honourable mentions to two other Marauders who also had a stellar weekend of competition.
Cross Country- Iain Thomson (Dundas, Ont.)
The McMaster Marauders travelled to London, Ont., this past weekend for their first meet of the season at the Thames Valley Golf Course. In the men's 8km,
