Tristan Joyce (Concord, Ont.) – OUA West Coach of the Year
Head Coach
In only his second year as Head Coach, Joyce has been selected as the 2024 OUA West Coach of the Year. A former Marauder athlete himself, he led the team to second place in the OUA West and secured a semi-final match berth with an impressive 8-2-2 record.
Under Joyce's leadership, the Marauders scored 30 goals and conceded only 15 across 12 matches. The team also led the OUA and ranked third nationally with 24 assists.
Joyce has a long-standing history with McMaster. Before stepping into his role as Head Coach, he was a key player from 2017 to 2021, studying economics and recording a total of 113 regular-season saves and eight shutouts across four seasons. In 2018, Joyce ranked second in the OUA for save percentage (0.854) and was named to the OUA Central All-Star team in his final season in 2021.
Joyce is now the fifth coach in McMaster men's soccer program history to receive this prestigious award.
Amir Shirazi (Oakville, Ont.) – OUA West First Team All-Star
Striker
Shirazi made a major impact this season, finishing first in points per match in both the U SPORTS and OUA regular season. He ranked second in the nation with 10 regular-season goals and added seven assists, placing him second in Ontario and fourth nationally. The Oakville native was clutch from the penalty spot, converting both of his penalty kick attempts. This is Shirazi's second consecutive season being named an OUA All-Star.
Matthew Paiva (Georgetown, Ont.) – OUA West First Team All-Star
Defender
The 6'1" transfer from Humber College was a standout in his first year with the Marauders, starting all 12 regular-season games. Paiva was crucial in the defensive lineup, helping limit opponents to an average of just 1.25 goals per match. He also contributed offensively, scoring two goals. This All-Star recognition in his rookie OUA season underscores the promise of Paiva's future contributions to McMaster.
Mohamed Alshakman (Hamilton, Ont.) – OUA West First Team All-Star
Midfielder
Alshakman recorded three goals and seven assists (T4 in U SPORTS) during the 2024 season, skillfully managing possession on both offense and defense. Since his rookie season with the Marauders in 2021, Alshakman has been a force; he was named OUA Rookie of the Year and to the U SPORTS All-Canadian Rookie Team. This 2024 All-Star award adds yet another accolade to his resume.
