Shirazi named All-Canadian and Paiva appointed to U SPORTS All-Rookie Team

Oshawa, Ont. – On Wednesday evening at the 2024 Men's Soccer U SPORTS Awards Ceremony, Amir Shirazi and Matthew Paiva received national honors. Shirazi was named to the All-Canadian Second Team, while Paiva was selected as a U SPORTS All-Rookie. Both players built on their impressive performances during the 2024 season to earn these first-time U SPORTS recognitions.

Amir Shirazi (Oakville, Ont.) – U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian
Striker
Shirazi had a standout season, leading the U SPORTS and OUA in points per game. With 10 goals during the regular season, he ranked second in U SPORTS and added seven assists, securing second place in the province and fourth nationwide. Known for his reliability, the fourth-year striker scored on both penalty kicks he attempted during the season. Earning his first All-Canadian recognition, Shirazi heads into his fifth and final year with the Marauders, ready to make an even greater impact.

Matthew Paiva (Georgetown, Ont.) – U SPORTS All-Rookie
Defender
In his debut season with McMaster, the Georgetown native made a strong impression, starting each of the 12 regular-season games. Paiva played a vital role in bolstering the defense, keeping opponents to an average of only 1.25 goals per game. He also made his mark on offense, netting two goals. This All-Rookie honor in his first U SPORTS season highlights Paiva's potential and signals his bright future as a Marauder.
