HAMILTON, Ont. - Kierra McDougall of the McMaster women's lacrosse team and Mitchell Pellarin of the Marauders men's lacrosse team are the BioSteel Marauder Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 23rd.
Women's Lacrosse - Kierra McDougall
A fifth-year chemical & biomedical engineering student from London, Ontario, Kierra McDougall had an impressive performance for the Marauders at the OUA Championship this past weekend in Toronto. The senior recorded two goals in McMaster's second contest of the Championship against the eventual OUA Champions, the Queen's Gaels. The most experienced lacrosse athlete on the Marauders' squad, McDougall was a staple for the maroon and grey over her five year career at McMaster. The team captain scored eleven goals this season and closed out her varsity career in style at the Championship.
Men's Lacrosse - Mitchell Pellarin
Mitchell Pellarin, a graduate student from Orillia, Ontario, recorded five goals in McMaster's final two regular season games against the Toronto Varsity Blues and Brock Badgers. The Master's of Global Health student scored a hat trick at Alumni Field on Friday night and backed it up with two goals against the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines on Saturday. Pellarin is the goal scoring and points leader for the Marauders this season with 22 goals and 7 assists. The attack is also the CUFLA scoring leader with his 22 goals and he sits sixth in the league in total points with 29.
After having just closed out the 2022 season at the OUA Championship, the Marauders women's lacrosse team will turn its attention to preparing for the 2023 season. The McMaster men's lacrosse team will now face the Western Mustangs on the road on Friday night at 8pm in a CUFLA playoff game.
