PREVIEW: MEN’S SOCCER KICKS-OFF SEASON AGAINST THUNDERBIRDS AT HOME

The McMaster Marauders men's soccer team makes their return to Ron Joyce Stadium today, opening up their 2021 season as they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at 2:30pm.

The Marauders are two years removed from their 2019 season where they posted a 5-3-6 regular season record to finish fourth in the OUA West Division. In the opening round of the 2019 playoffs, the Marauders staved off a hungry Western Mustangs squad after winning by penalty shootout following a 3-3 tie in regulation and extra time. In the quarterfinal stage, their pursuit of an OUA championship came to an end on the road after a 4-1 defeat to the York Lions.

Returning to the Marauders this season are a pair of 2019 OUA West second-team all-stars in defender Matt Monteiro and striker Dusan Kovacevic. Dino Perri returns for his 14th season at the helm of the men's soccer team, and with two seasons away, his squad will look to put the league on notice this weekend.
