Women’s Rugby: Marauders Capture Bronze with 41-3 Win over Badgers

McMaster finished third in the OUA for the third consecutive season

McMaster closed out the OUA women's rugby season on Saturday by defeating the Brock Badgers 41-3 in the OUA bronze medal match.

With the victory, McMaster captured its third OUA bronze medal in as many years.

The field was tilted in favour of McMaster for much of the match, as seven different Marauders scored tries.

Stacey Warner opened the scoring for the Marauders in the fourth minute of the match after dragging a pile of Badgers about 10-yards down the field and across the try line for the early lead.

Minutes later, Tia Svoboda intercepted a Brock pass and was off to the races, but was pulled down 20-yards from paydirt. Her run did, however, help set up a Taylor Price try a couple minutes later to extend the Marauders lead.

Mac didn't look back from there, as Britni French and Maddy Cohoon added tries in the 21st and 33rd minutes.

Brock managed to get on the board prior to the whistle signaling halftime, with Taylor Knezevich making a penalty kick. Those proved to be the only points the Badgers would put on the board in the match.

Following halftime, it was much of the same, as the Marauders added three more tries from Monique Sluys, Alissa Zhang and Brigitte Clarke.

Katie McLeod handled the kicking duties in the game for McMaster, making three of seven attempts to lead all scorers with six points.
