Men's Soccer: Stoyanov Strikes Twice as Mac Beats Brock 3-1

The third-year forward scored twice and assisted on a third goal in Saturday's win

Box Score ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (September 16, 2017) - Yordan Stoyanov notched two goals to lift the No. 9 McMaster Marauders to a 3-1 win over the Brock Badgers in men's soccer on Saturday.

The win gives McMaster 15 points on the season with a 5-2 record, pushing them currently into second in the OUA West standings, behind the Guelph Gryphons. Western (14 points) and York (12 points), however, both enjoy a game in hand.

McMaster held a 3-0 lead after the first half of play, with Stoyanov recording his goals in the fifth and 30th minutes. Sasha Ricciuti notched his fifth goal of the season in the victory, scoring in the 40th minute. Stoyanov added an assist on that goal.

Brock's Eric Serafino scored a consolation goal late, in the 87th minute, to set the final score at 3-1.

The Marauders dominated play, peppering Brock with 11 shots, while the Badgers countered with just three.

McMaster's Nicola Brtan was the lone player to register a yellow card.

NEXT UP: The Marauders will host Western on September 24th at Ron Joyce Stadium, in a rematch of one of their two losses of 2017. Game time is 3:15 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5.00 for adults and free for students and children under 12.
