WOMEN'S RUGBY: MAC DEFEATS WESTERN 29-0, EARNING TRIP TO OUA FINAL

They came, they saw and they conquered as McMaster shutout the Western Mustangs 29-0 in the OUA semi-final. The Marauders have their eyes set on next week's OUA final but this victory also books them a trip to the USports Women's Rugby National Championship in Victoria.

The undefeated Marauders have dominated on the pitch for the entire season and Friday night was no different. Fly half, Steph Black, opened the scoring for a try after 22 minutes of play. She sent a beauty shot through the uprights for the conversion. Black added two more converts on the night, finishing with a game-high 9 points.

Just over ten minutes later, Marauder captain, Katie Svoboda, finished a great Britney French linebreak for the try and it was an easy convert for Black, as MAC extended their lead 14-0.

McMaster ended the half with a try by another Svoboda, this time it was Katie's sister, Sara, getting in on the action, as the Marauders held a commanding 19-0 lead. They never looked back.

The second half saw single tries from both Maddy Seatle and Lauren Walkden. McMaster kept the Mustang attack under control, keeping their composure under pressure, while using space and the speed they are known for.

The Marauders await the results of the second semi-final happening between Guelph and Queens, on Saturday, October 22nd. MAC will host the OUA Final on Friday, October 28th at Ron Joyce Stadium. Game time is set for 7pm.
