Box Score Avenging a shock loss of weeks past, the Marauders made a decisive move in the OUA playoff picture Thursday. McMaster evened the season series, and leapfrogged the 10-man Laurier Golden Hawks for third position in the OUA West division, with a 3-1 road win.
Sitting on 27 points at 8-4-3 and with just one match remaining to be played in the regular season, the Marauders are two points clear of the Golden Hawks in third, and would play host to the Windsor Lancers in a first-round playoff match up should the current standings hold.
The trio of
Carlo Difeo,
Sasha Ricciuti and
Marco Gennaccaro had goals for the Marauders in the win, while Gurjinder Garcha had the lone marker for the host Golden Hawks.
Laurier was put on the back foot early Thursday, as star goal scorer Niklas Bauer was ejected from the contest after being issued a straight red card in the ninth minute, reducing the home side to 10 men for the lion's share of the match.
UP NEXT: McMaster concludes the regular season with a home fixture against the Brock Badgers at Ron Joyce Stadium on Saturday, October 22. That match gets underway at 3:00 p.m.
