MARAUDER SOCCER TEAMS SWEEP ALGOMA

Box Score In need of points to move up in the OUA standings, the McMaster soccer teams made the long trip to Sault Ste. Marie and won all four weekend games vs. the Algoma Thunderbirds.

The Marauder women's team was able to unleash the offense, winning the Saturday game 6-0 and coming back to win again on Sunday 7-0.   Amy Froome was able to find the back of the net in both games, while Anne Yeboah was inserted into the line-up on Sunday and she scored twice to pace the Mac attack.   Keeper Cristina Abbatangelo registered clean sheets in both contests.

Picking up all six available points allowed the Marauders to move up to 5th in the OUA standings, which clinches a playoff position.  McMaster wraps up the league schedule with games at Laurier on Thursday, October 20 and at home versus Brock on Sunday, October 23.

The Marauder men's team also swept the host Thunderbirds, winning on Saturday 3-0 and stepping up on Sunday to win 7-1.  McMaster scoring efforts saw Chris Luxton and Marco Gennaccaro  each put a ball past the Algoma keeper in both games, while Yunus Mollayev was sensational on Sunday, scoring three goals and boosting his team-leading tally to eight.

McMaster is now fourth in the OUA standings, which means the team will play at home for the OUA quarter-finals.  The Marauders have a big game at Laurier on Thursday, October 20 and the winner will assume third spot in the standings; while the Marauders host Brock at home on Sunday, October 23 to close out the regular season.
