There was no shock to be found when the OUA playoffs opened at Ron Joyce Stadium. After defeating Toronto 81-0 in the first week of the regular season, the CIS no. 1-ranked McMaster Marauders jumped on the Varsity Blues early and often, beating them 85-0 in an OUA quarterfinal.
The duo of Sara Svoboda and Taylor Price each had three tries, while Steph Black and Selena Seguin had a pair and the trio of Colleen Irowa, Britni French and Maddy Seatle crossed the try line once each.
Black had six converts to go along with her two tries, ending her appearance as the game's leading scorer with 22 points in just a half of work.
Much of McMaster's starting 15 left for the bench after the opening 40 minutes, as the Marauders held a 52-0 lead at the halftime break.
Among the substitutes, Brii English successfully kicked four converts in relief of Black.
The Marauders await the crossover with the Shiels Division at the semi-final stage, and will host the second-seeded representative of that division at Ron Joyce Stadium on Saturday, October 22. Should they advance beyond that game, McMaster would play host to the OUA Championship, looking to win it for the third-consecutive season.
