Box Score Gersi Xhuti led the offensive barrage on Saturday, racking up four goals, as McMaster pumped eight past Algoma en route to an 8-1 victory.
Midfielder Yunus Mollayev added a brace of his own, while Stefan Scholz scored from the penalty spot in the dominant win which pushed McMaster's record to 9-3 and further solidified their place among the top three of the OUA West.
The match had just reset from Xhuti's first goal when the Marauder winger streaked through the Thunderbirds defensive line to pot a second, barely a minute on from the last. He would complete the hat-trick before the onset of the halftime break, striking again in the 34th minute.
On the final play of the half, Scholz took to the penalty spot after a Marauder break was illegally brought to a stop in the Thunderbirds box, and calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to give his team a 4-0 lead at the break.
The onslaught continued in the second, as Mollayev grabbed his first goal of the afternoon just two minutes after the restart, and an own goal followed in the 58th minute to make it a 6-0 game. Xhuti completed his rampant day five minutes later, with Mollayev capping off the Marauders offensive outburst with a cool finish in the 70th minute.
Small consolation came for Algoma three minutes from the final whistle, when Jubi Joseph Iferi scored from the penalty spot to deny Kieran Doyle-Davis the clean sheet.
The two teams return to Ron Joyce Stadium on Sunday, where they reconvene for the second half of their weekend doubleheader at 2:15 p.m.
