MARAUDERS EASILY DISPATCH TRENT EXCALIBUR

The McMaster women's rugby team cruised past the Trent Excalibur in a spectacular offensive effort on Sunday afternoon. By the time the Marauders scoring explosion was done and the final whistle blew, the score was 41-0.

The scoring started early for the Marauders as they crossed the try line within the first 10 minutes of the match. Great tackling and offensive efforts by both teams kept the game close for the first 20 minutes. In the 23rd minute, Saffara Whiteley-Hoffelner split the Excalibur defence wide open with a well-executed set play. A third try was scored before half, with the score standing at 15-0 at the break.

The second half saw a new energy in the Excalibur, great tackling and scrum play kept the score at 15-0 until the 60th minute. Cindy Nelles crashed through Trent defence to record one of her four tries on the day. Her try spurred a late-game outburst for the Marauders, who then went on to score another three tries before the final whistle blew.

Cindy Nelles finished the day as McMaster's top scorer, with a total of four tries and a convert, while Sarah Farquharson and Saffara Whiteley-Hoffelner each added two tries of their own. Stephanie Black recorded a convert to complete the scoring.

The Marauders next action comes on Saturday, September 21, when the team travels to Toronto to play the University of Toronto Blues. Last year's encounter between the two saw the Marauders walk away with a decisive 60-7 victory, a result they will likely try to replicate.
